 As District Commissioner for North Ayrshire and Arran District I would like to welcome you to our district web site, which I hope you will find of interest.
The District offers unlimited opportunities for young people aged from 6 to 18, and not forgetting adults as well who can participate by helping run a section, going on camps or even just helping out occasionally. I hope that this site will provide you with all the information that you need.
I am pleased to say that for the first time in many years 2010 sees the number of young people and leaders with in the district has increased. Over the past year we have managed to get beavers and cubs back up and running in Dalry and our next priority is to get the scouts and explorers running. Scouting in Arran is also booming again and the scout section in Lamlash has started back up and maybe in the not too distant future we may even have explorers on the island. The team are looking at the possibility of starting Scouting on Cumbrae but again this will not be till the next session and we will begin with looking for leaders to take on the sections and hopefully at the AGM in 2011 we will be reporting more new groups with in the District.
I would like to thank all the leaders, assistant leaders and helpers with in the group for all the hard work they have put into their groups over the past year in providing a full and balanced program of events. This is obviously working as the numbers with in the groups is growing.
This year we are looking forward to a record number of Chief and Queen Scout awards, which is great testament to the sheer hard work of our leadership team and the young people who take part in Scouting.

The age groups for the various sections are as follows:-
Beavers Scouts 5 years 9 months to 8 years
Cub Scouts 8 years to 10 years 6 months
Scouts 10 years 6 months to 14 years
Explorer Scouts 14 years to 18 years
Scout Network 18 years to 25 years
Scout Fellowship 18 years upwards
