As District Commissioner for North Ayrshire and Arran District I would like to welcome you to our new district web site, which I hope you will find of interest.

The District offers unlimited opportunities for young people aged from 6 to 18, and not forgetting adults as well who can participate by helping run a section, going on camps or even just helping out occasionally. I hope that this site will provide you with all the information that you need.

Still in its infancy the District was formed by the joining of Cunninghame North, Cunninghame South and Arran during the Regional restructure.  Week in week out, our team of over 101 adult volunteers, provide a full and balanced programme of fun and exciting activity for our 570 members in 11 Scout Groups throughout North Ayrshire and Arran. All the adults in the District are volunteers and, contrary to popular belief, they do not get paid for working with young people. However, Scouting standards are very high and we are all professionals, we just don’t receive a wage!

The District Team will shortly be launching a competition for the young people in our District to design and develop a new District Badge and details of this will be given at the District AGM on 16th March 2009 and will also appear on the website

This year we are looking forward to a record number of Chief and Queen Scout awards, which is great testament to the sheer hard work of our leadership team and the young people who take part in Scouting.

The age groups for the various sections are as follows:-

Beavers Scouts 5 years 9 months to 8 years
Cub Scouts 8 years to 10 years 6 months
Scouts 10 years 6 months to 14 years
Explorer Scouts 14 years to 18 years
Scout Network 18 years to 25 years
Scout Fellowship 18 years upwards
