The SAS Explorer Unit recently completed 2 weekends in October and November at the National Scout Outward Bound Centre at Lochgoilhead where they were successful in completing their Sailing Certificates and because of the unusually good weather their Power Boat Certificates as well.This was only possible due to the grant from the Lottery Fund. They hope to return in 2010 and complete their canoeing certificates as well.
In November the SAS Unit took part in the first annual Indoor Games Competition at Ardrossan Scout Hut. Explorer Scouts from all over North Ayrshire attended and agood night was had by all especially the SAS Unit as they won the competition. They hope to defend their title in 2010.
In December the SAS Unit are palnning to have their annual Christmas night out at the Gokarts in Kilmarnock. The Scouts particularly enjoy this night as they have repeatedly proved that they are better drivers than their Leaders. The Leaders hope to prove them wrong this year.
The SAS Unit has some vacancies at present. Any person aged between 14 and 18 years of age can join. They meet at Ardrossan Scout Hut in Kilmeny Terrace on a Wednesday night between 1925 and 2115 hours. Any person interested in joining should contact Alastair Dodds Scout Leader (01294 550821) |
